Konoe Motosaki (近衛基前)

Motosaki KONOE (September 7, 1783 - May 30, 1820) was a Court noble who lived during the late Edo period. His father was Tsunehiro KONOE. His mother was Tadako, a daughter of Imperial Prince Arisugawanomiya Yorihito. His wife was a daughter of Yoshimasa MATSUDAIRA. His called himself Shojorakuin (証常楽院). He had a son named Tadahiro KONOE and a daughter (Nobuyuki TSUGARU's wife). His adopted daughters included Sachigimi (Masahiro TAKATSUKASA's daughter who became Nariharu TOKUGAWA's wife and was called Teishi) and Masuko (増子) (the 8th daughter of Imperial Prince Fushiminomiya Sadayoshi who became Kojo OTANI's wife).

Brief Personal History

He was born to Tsunehiro KONOE in 1783. He held various posts such as Naidaijin (Minister of the Center) (1799 - 1814), Udaijin (Minister of the Right) (1814 - 1815), and Sadaijin (Minister of the Left) (1815 - 1820). He was appointed to Jusani (Junior Third Rank) on July 13, 1792. He rose to the rank of Juichii (Junior First Rank) on September 20, 1805. He died in 1820.
